Long-range transit plans: Dallas/Fort Worth
From Rail North Texas, an initiative of the North Central Texas Council of Governments:
“About 6.3 million residents currently call North Texas home. Over the last 10 years, the region’s population has been increasing steadily, and the trend is expected to continue. By 2030, the North Texas population is expected to be 9 million.
Rail North Texas is the regional initiative to identify funding for an additional 251 miles of passenger rail to meet residents’ transportation needs as well as the region’s air quality goals. Involvement and support of local elected officials, business leaders and the public is important to refining, funding and implementing a regional passenger rail expansion. The additional 251 miles of rail reach across seven counties, and the expansion is included in Mobility 2030 which is the long-range, multimodal Metropolitan Transportation Plan for North Texas.”
